View from the yellow school bus just before dawn !!!!
Yesterday we were up before dawn and off for Lesser Prairie Chicken with Fred in big yellow school bus! Driving across the prairie...it's cold that time in the morning....we were all wrapped up with numerous layers and blankets....Brrrrrr...
Then the bus stops....windows are wound down! In the distance we could just make out jumping shapes in the moonlight and this strange sound echoing across the prairie. Then you get your first glimpse of the lesser prairie chicken and stifled whispers ripple around the bus. The sun slowly rises and the spectacle is revealed......12 dancing chickens....awesome!
It is magical...and gets more frenzied as a couple of ladies turn up to inspect the talent....they don't seem that impressed by what they are seeing, ignoring the chaps, going about their business...this results in a few squabbles....but then a hasty return to smooth moves.....memorising! The sunrise was spectacular....
With the sun almost fully in the sky....it was time for the chuck wagon breakfast....yum....then a retreat to the vans for another long drive.....exhausted...!!!
Found the ultimate interesting read today...picture attached.....lots of articles of how to be a good wife....nods of approval from the chaps on trip......articles of note....'wife's compare freezer extras' and 'Montana Wife wins Microwave'.......how do I get a subscription I wonder?
